Albert Jongewaard, 79, of Blue Springs, MO, and former resident of Sioux Center, died Saturday, January 15, 1994, at his residence. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, CA, Church of Our Fathers Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, under the direction of D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Blue Springs Chapel.

Mr. Jongewaard was born December 9, 1914, in Sioux Center, the son of Albert C. and Johanna (VanderMeer) Jongewaard. He had lived in California for 50 years, most recently in the Santa Ana area. He moved to Blue Springs eight years ago. He was an outside plant engineer, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co. (retired). Mr. Jongewaard was a member and director of International Y's Men's Club (service club of YMCA). He was a Presbyterian. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Hansen of Grain Valley, MO; and Judy Carl of Bakersfield, CA; two sisters, Judith Layne of Seattle, WA; and Beverly Hayes of Zuni, AZ; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Cancer Society.
