Henrietta "Etta" Johnson, 96, of Aurelia, and formerly of Hawarden, died Monday, November 15, 1993, at Sunset Knoll Nursing Home in Aurelia. Services were held Wednesday November 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton. Visitation was held Tuesday at the Porter- Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 14, 1897, in Ireton, the daughter of Habbe and Henrietta Braaks. She graduated from Ireton High School in 1916. She taught rural school at Miller and Wall Lake, SD, from 1916 to 1918 She married Andrew "Kelly" Johnson September 2, 1919. The couple made their home in Hartford, SD, and Rockford, IA, until retiring to Hawarden in 1959. He died in 1960. She had been a resident at Sunset Knoll in Aurelia since October 1984. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden.
