Former Doon resident Passed Away Last Week at Cherokee
Albert De Jager, 68, who had lived in Ireton, George, Doon and Hawarden and vicinity a number of years, died Saturday night at the state hospital in Cherokee. He had been in poor health for some time.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 last Thursday afternoon at the Christian Reformed church in Hawarden. Rev. Tueset of Doon officiated. Burial was at Lebanon.
Mr. De Jager was born May 11, 1885, in Holland and came to America when a young man. He married Sophia Bloosma and to this union were born seven children four of whom preceded him in death. Later he married Catherine Van Der Kodde at Sheybogan, Wis. After this marriage he lived in Ireton, George and Doon and then returned to Hawarden.Survivors include the widow; three children, Harry of Doon, Alfred of Bellflower, Calif., and Mrs. Sophia Koolhaas of Artesia, Calif. two brothers, Bert De Jager of Hawarden, and Carl, who lives in Minnesota and one sister who lives in the Netherlands.
