Former Rock Valleyite Brother of Mrs. E. McKellar, Succumbs
George D. Reynolds, a former Rock Valley resident, and well known to many people here, died in Portland, Ore. Saturday, July 11, at the age of 73. Mr. Reynolds was buried in the I. 0. Q. F. cemetery at Salem, Ore.
Mr. Reynolds came to Rock Valley in 1892. As a boy he helped string the first telephone wires from Inwood to Rock Valley. He earned the printer's trade in the Bee office, like going to Omaha to learn the linotype trade. He worked two years on the Statesman in Salem, Ore., and 43 years on the Oregoinan in Portland. He was a member of the Masons, Shriners, Eastern Star, and the Linotypers union.
He leaves his widow Lillian, and two daughters, Mary Beth Wilson of South San Francisco and Ada Leo of Portland and five grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Adah M. Ryan, of Aurora, Ore. and Mrs. E. McKellar of Rock Valley.Source: Rock Valley Bee 7/16/1953
