Milton David was born on June 22, 1924, in rural Orange City, the son of Nicolas and Kathryn (Brolsma) Bogaard. He was raised on the family farm north of Orange City and graduated from the Newkirk High School.
On December 4, 1945, he married Minnie Alma Kleinhesselink in Orange City. They farmed their Century Farm for over forty years, retiring to Orange City in 1989. On September 11 of this year, they moved to the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Mr. Bogaard was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder and served as church treasurer. He was active in the choir and sang solos and duets with his wife for special music.
He was chairman of the Sioux County Extension Council and was a 4-H leader for many years. He was also a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer for 25 years.
“Milt” enjoyed spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren participate in their activities. On most days, in the mornings, you would find him exercising or having a cup of decaf coffee with friends and playing cards at the Orange City Senior Center in the afternoons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Bogaard and Clifford Bogaard.
Milt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Memorials will be directed to the church for landscaping.
