Nolen E. Waterman
Mr. Nolen E. Waterman, 83, of LeGrand died Wednesday, September 6, in Grinnel. Funeral services were Saturday, September 9, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Dr. Glen Jaspers officiating. Burial was at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Alcester, SD, on April 26, 1906, the son of Marvin and Elsie Waterman. Reared and educated in Hawarden, he lived there until 1952 when they moved to the Montour LeGrand area. He was employed in road construction working for J.D. Armstrong and the Birch Construction Co., until his retirement in 1971. Mr. Waterman was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the Le Grand Sr. Citizens. His first marriage was to Beulah Green, on February 21, 1928, in Elk Point, SD. She preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Virgia Finders, on May 30,1982, in Colorado Springs, Co.

He is survived by his wife; five children, Mrs. Henry (Alona) Boyles, of Blue Grass, Mrs. Vern (Delores) Crookshank, of LeGrand, Keith Waterman, of Davenport, Jerry Waterman, of Marshaltown, and Mrs. Lowell (Conine) Reed, of West Des Moines; two stepchildren, Leroy Wallen, of Beaman and Sydney Shepard, of Decorah; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Merlin Waterman, of Hawarden, Raymond Waterman, of Waterloo, Curtis Waterman, of Waterloo, Opal Rankin, of Laurens, Audrey Brice, of Hawarden, and Naomi Schwiesow, of Hawarden. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers and two sisters
