Mark Duane Witt, 33, of rural Hawarden, died Monday, October 16, of injuries suffered in a farm accident east of Hawarden. Services were held Thursday, October 19, 1989, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Ireton. Rev. Mark Camahan officiated with burial at Grace Hill Cemetery, in Hawarden, under the direction of the Porter-Dow Funeral Home. A prayer service was held Wednesday evening, October 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the Porter- Dow Funeral Home.

Mark Duane Witt was born January 30,1956 to Duane and Betty (Newman) Witt in Hawarden. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1974. He married Diane Franken July 13,1985 in Sioux Center. They lived together on a farm near Ireton before moving to a farm near Hawarden a year ago, where Mr. Witt was presently farming with his father. Mr. Witt was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Ireton and a board member of the FFARM, a cattle feeding coop.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; one son, Nathaniel; one daughter, Megan, both at home; his father, Duane Wilt, of rural Hawarden; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Randy and Susan, Jason all of Hawarden; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lanny and Cindy Pick, of Orange City, Brian and Amy Vander Aarde, of Sioux Falls, SD. Preceding him in death were his mother, Betty, and his brother, Dennis
