Elizabeth Vande Hoef, 88, of Hawarden, died Friday August 25 at a Hawarden nursing home. Services were Monday, August 28, at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home, in Hawarden, with Rev. Marvin Vander Vliet officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Ireton.

Mrs. Vande Hoef, the former Elizabeth Van Hofwegen, was born April 2, 1901, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She came to the United States with her parents, and to the Hawarden area, at an early age. She married Teunis Vande Hoef in 1921. They farmed in the Hawarden/Ireton area until they retired and moved into Ireton. After Mr. Vande Hoef died on June 28, 1964, Mrs. Vande Hoef moved to Hawarden. In July of 1982, she moved to the Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include one brother, Herman, of Mira Lorna, CA; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, and two sisters.
