Sioux County Capital September 7, 1989

Jeanette Julia Kanis, 95, of Aurelia died Aug. 30 at the Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia.
Funeral services were held at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee on Sept. 1. Rev. Jeff
Kreuger officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Jeanette was born April 28, 1894 in Middleburg and lived in the Orange City-Maurice area most of
her life. She is survived by her son, Herman A. Kanis of Colorado Springs, Colo., eight grandchildren, 13
great-grandchildren and a sister, Rencella Hyink of Atlanta, Oa. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Arie Kanis of Orange City in 1967, and three daughters, Elizabeth Kanis of Orange City,
Elaine Lubbers of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Patricia Simmons of Cherokee.
