John J. Knutson, 57, died at his residence Friday, March 31. Funeral services were Monday, April 3, at the Meyer Funeral Home. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery. A Council Bluffs police report said Knutson suffered from the flu, a sore throat and other related symptoms and was being treated by a doctor.

Mr. Knutson was born in Hawarden and had lived most of his life in Council Bluffs. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict He worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 30 years and was still working at the time of his death. He was a member of the Council Bluffs Eagles. He and his wife, Ardiss, were married 32 years ago.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Steve, Mike and Danny, all of Council Bluffs, Bemie, of Omaha, and Randy, of Norman, OK; mother, Irene Knutson, of Council Bluffs; three sisters, Betty Vogesser, of Avoca, Lois Stoker, of Riatlo, CA, and Luella Venner, of Oroville CA; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
