Alis M. Holmberg, 77, of Hawarden died Thursday, October 27, 1988 in Sioux Falls, SD.
Services were 1:30 p.m, Saturday, October 29, 1988 in the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ron Finch, Bernard Schiefen, Glenn Olsen, RogerFalde, Ray Rummel and Pat Relley.

Alis M. Holmberg, the daughter of James and Lena Gifford Dougherty, was born near Rock Valley on October 13,1911. She lived in the Rock Valley and Akron areas before moving to Hawarden in May, 1928. She married Lyle Holmberg on June 25, 1935 at Faulkton, SD. She operated a cafe in Hawarden for many years before working with the food service at Otis Radio until her retirement in 1974.

She is survived by one son Jim of Sioux Falls; one sister, Beatrice Earll of Hawarden; two grandchildren, Alis Michele Holmberg of Butterfield, MN and James Holmberg, Jr., of San
Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; three sisters, Jtianita Ellison, Ruth Slater and Marjorie Dougherty and one brother, Gifford Dougherty.
