John White, 77, a resident of this vicinity the past 40 years, died early Tuesday, January 23, 1951.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Hawarden, Iowa. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton, Iowa, under the direction of the Frazier Funeral Home.

He was born May 22, 1873, in Wisconsin. On September 13, 1906, he was married to Verna Cott. He farmed in this vicinity until two years ago when he came to Hawarden to live. He was a member of the Evansville Church in Plymouth county.

He is survived by his widow Verna; one son, M/Sgt. Ama M. White, stationed at Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Hamersma of Florence, Minnesota and Mrs. Martin Hamersma of Hawarden; two brothers, Garfield of Hawarden and Alvin of Ireton: two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Smith of Ellendale, North Dakota and Mrs. Ralph Hoiting of Eugene, Oregon, and nine grandchildren.

His parents, a brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
