Hawarden Independent December 17, 1987

Golda B. DeHaas, 84, of Hawarden, died Friday, December 11, 1987, in a Sioux City hospital. Services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 1987, in the Associated Church, in Hawarden, with the Rev. Fritz Mellberg officiating. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, in Orange City. The casket bearers were: James Huenink, Glenn Evenhius, Taylor Flynn, Bernard Schiefen, Paul Slander and Wilbur Bos.

Mrs. DeHaas, the former Golda Langston, was born Oct. 28, 1903, in Berryville, AR. She married Herman DeHaas Aug. 13, 1933, in Harrison, AR. The couple moved to Sioux County in 1941 and to the Hawarden area in 1941. He died April 18,1974. Mrs. DeHaas was an active member of the Associated Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Anna) Schemmer of Hawarden; a son, Tony, of Houston, TX, and five grandchildren.
