Mrs. Charles (Hilda) Statema, 79, of Westmont, IL, died Monday, October 5,1987, at the home of a daughter. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 8, at the Bos Funeral Home, South Holland, IL, with Rev. Harris Verkaid officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Worth, IL. Pallbearers were grandsons.

Mrs. Statema, the former Hilda Yates, was born October 23, 1907, at Ireton, to Charles and Nettie (Webert)Yates. In 1923, she moved with her parents to Sanborn. In 1930, she married Charles Statema and lived at Sanborn until 1942 when they moved to Worth, IL. Mr. Statema died in 1986 and she moved to Westmont, IL, to live with her daughter.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Florence) Spelde, Solon Springs, Wl, and Mrs. J. (Charlene) Taylor, Westmont, IL; eight grandchildren and IS great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Bernice Ball, Le Mars, Mrs. Rudy (Lyla) Cranford, Sanborn, and Mrs. Lowell (Alvena) Jans, Hawarden; and one brother, Fred Yates, Claremore, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers.
