Bernice E. Hongslo, 82, of Alcester, died Friday, July 10, 1987, at the Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, at the Alcester Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Mead officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.

Mrs. Hongslo, the former Bernice E. Johnson, was born November 9, 1904, near Hawarden. She was adopted as an infant by August and Maggie Johnson, of Alcester. She attended the Big Springs Rural School. She married Joseph Hongslo on November 22, 1924, at Marshall, MN, and the couple made their home in Alcester. He died in1943. She entered the nursing home in January of 1984. She was a member of the Alcester Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Audrey) Ball of Citrus Heights, CA, .and Mrs. Jay (Cleo)Clark of Alcester; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter
