Hawarden Independent July 16, 1987

LeRoy L. Heeren, 60, of Hawarden, died Saturday, July 11,1987, at a Sioux Fails hospital following a short illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Edmund Adams officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Active pallbearers were Fred Hoogestraat, Donald Schlueter, Joe Koob, Bob Harry, BilI Finch and Bill Gant. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Harry, Bill Hill, Lester Janssen, Larry Opdahl, Dick Swift and Donald Vande Pol.

Mr. Heeren was born January 5, 1927, at Ireton. He served in the Air Force from 1946-1949. He married Lois Gaul on October 2, 1950, at Hawarden. He was a carpenter. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legon, Eagles Lodge of Hawarden and served on the Hawarden Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Jane) Eisma, of Hawarden, Mrs. Tom (Cheri)Sedgwick of Parker, SD, and Mrs. Gary (Julie) Fox of Hollywood, FL; four sons, Lt. Dennis of Hamford,CA, Daniel "Bo" of Rochester, MN, Richard of Hawarden, and Tom of Wayne, NE; his mother, Violet Heeren of Hawarden; three sisters, Eylene Gaul of Hawarden, Shirley Dagie of Lisbon, and Janice Comphor of Baltimore, MD, and eight grandchildren.
