Lawrence H. Williams, 70, of Hawarden, died Sunday, July 12, 1987, at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden. Active pallbearers were Elmer Johnson, Henry Gebauer, William Hill, Alvin Lingscheit, Earl Slife, Jr. and Willis Frank. Honorary pallbearers were Don De Haan, James Anderson, Gerald Dow,William Edmunds, Richard Smith, Robert Scroggs, Loren Swanson and Don Dimmick.

Mr. Williams was born December 21, 1916, at Darlington, WI, and moved to Hawarden with his parents. He married Bernice Schlumbohm on May 30, 1936, at Hawarden and the couple farmed for several years in the Lebanon area. They moved into Hawarden in 1956, where heestablished the Williams Insurance Agency, retiring in October 1979. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was chairman of the Low Rent Housing Development and director of First State Bank for many years.

Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Dorcas Frost of Eugene, OR.
