Sharon Helen was born on October 9, 1945, in Luverne, Minnesota, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Moerke) Swenson. She was raised on the family farm in Spring Water Township, northwest of Luverne, and graduated from the Beaver Creek High School in 1963.

On December 24, 1966, she married Eugene Joseph Maras in Luverne. They made their home in Alton, where they raised their four children. Sharon lost her husband, on July 3, 1987. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Superior, where she has resided ever since.

Mrs. Maras was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids: fishing and horse shows with Evelyn and fishing and playing cards with Cade and Lauren. She enjoyed the Cherokee Rendezvous with Tony, Dylan, Mitchell, Lennon, Autumn, and Christopher.

She liked nature, bird watching, camping and riding in the semi with her dear friend, Betty, sewing, and knitting, and she never missed the Luverne Band Festival.

Survivors include her four children, Patrick Maras, and his wife, Mindi, of Marion; Paul Maras, of Alton; Kristy Maras, of Des Moines; and Bradley Maras, and his wife, Christina, of North Liberty; nine grandchildren, Tony, Dylan, Mitchell, Lennon, Autumn and Christopher Maras; Evelyn Maras; and Cade and Lauren Maras; five great-grandchildren; her seven siblings and their spouses, Glen Swenson, of Luverne; Gordon Swenson, of Hardwick, Minnesota; Marlys and Gary Roloff, of Round Lake, Illinois; Janet (John) Sudenga, of Luverne; Carol Swenson, of St. Paul, Minnesota; Gloria and Gary Ernston, of Lakeville, Minnesota; and Cindy and Red Cauwels, of Adrian, Minnesota; and her good friends, Betty and Naomi, just to name a few.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Patrick Maras.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
