Mrs. Karen Brunemeier, age 72, of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at the Orange City Area Health System.
There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, October 7, at 11:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Haverdink will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 10:00am to 10:45am, at the funeral home.
Karen Faye was born on February 25, 1943, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Henry and Clarine (De Vries) Westra. She was raised at Sioux Center, Sheldon, and Orange City.
As an adult, she made her home in Orange City, where she served as a teachers’ aide at the Maurice – Orange City Elementary School. She also worked as a hairdresser for several years.
Karen was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City. She enjoyed cooking and attending M-OC activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Carissa Brunemeier, of Orange City; and special cousins, Hope and Rick Cameron, of Sioux Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Lee Westra.
Memorials may be directed to the Heart Fund or the Cancer Society.
