Funeral services for Orange Schuetz, 72, long time resident of this community, who died in a hospital at San Benito, Texas, last Monday, were held at the Griffith-Thomas Funeral Home in San Benito at 4 o’clock Wednesday of last week, with Reverend K. Welch officiating.

The body arrived in Hawarden Saturday for Committal Services with Reverend Paul Williams in charge.

Mr. Schuetz, born August 3, 1888, in Atchinson, Nebraska, was the only child of David E. and Emma Henry Schuetz.

At the age of three he moved with his parents to a farm near Hawarden where he lived until 1943 when he and his wife, the former Mary Topp, whom he married June 28, 1905 in Ireton, moved to Spirit Lake and spent their winters in Port Isabel, Texas. In 1957 they made Port Isabel their year-around home.

Mr. Schuetz attended the First Baptist Church in Laguna Heights, Texas, having been a member of the Baptist Church in Hawarden while a resident in this vicinity.

He was preceded in death by a son, Elmer.

Survivors include the widow, Mary; two sons, David E. of Atlantic, Iowa, and Eardley L. of Lincoln, Nebraska; a daughter, Mrs. Alice M. Jorgensen of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Out of town relatives attending the Hawarden services were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Topp and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Topp of Orange City, Mr. and Mrs. Newton Teller of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Merton Henry of Alcester and Mr. and Mrs. Ced Van Steenwyk of Sioux Center.
