Died: 1964Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Nelson, 86, long-time Hawarden resident who died Thursday at a Wessington Springs, South Dakota Hospital following a heart attack, were held at 3 o’clock Monday at the Associated Church here. Reverend William Sebring and Reverend Charles Keller officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr. sang “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” accompanied by Mrs. Hal Shoemaker, Organist. Casket bearers were Alford Twedt, Arnold Twedt, Norman Knudsen, Floyd Twedt, Roy Twedt and Nels Westergard.
Mrs. Nelson, the former Anna Twedt, was born October 21, 1879 at Hudson, South Dakota. She married Chris Nelson in 1895.
She was a member of the Associated Church, a charter member of the Royal Neighbors of America Lodge and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Mrs. Nelson was residing with a daughter at Wessington Springs when she became seriously ill and was hospitalized a few weeks ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Roy Nelson of Hawarden.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold Smith of Hawarden and Mrs. Raymond Younie of Wessington Springs; two brothers, Alfred Twedt of Alcester and Rudolph Twedt of Canton, South Dakota; nine grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
