Died: 1964Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Treiber, 79, of Hudson, who died Wednesday of last week at the Hawarden Hospital following a short illness were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Hudson Lutheran Church. Pastor Oliver Everson officiated with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.
Casket bearers were Gerald Toft, James Toft, Phillip Toft, Lauren Toft, Darwin Groth and Loyal Saugstad.
Elizabeth Schmidt was born in Plymouth County, Iowa, June 13, 1884, a daughter of Caroline and Jacob Schmidt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.
As a young girl she moved to Ireton with her parents where she spent her childhood. On December 1, 1904, she married Phillip Treiber at Morris, Minnesota, to which union four children were born.
They farmed in Minnesota and Iowa for many years and resided in Ireton at the time of her husband’s death.
For the past 18 years, Mrs. Treiber made her home with her daughter, Lila in Hudson where she was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband and one daughter, Emma, who died in infancy.
Survivors include a son, Elmer, of Sarasota, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Lila Toft of Hudson and Mrs. Inez Keiser of Merrill; a brother, Fred Schmidt of Osage, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
