Funeral services for Mrs. Frances McCown of 801 2nd Street Southeast in Le Mars, former Hawarden resident, who died suddenly early Wednesday morning, were held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.D. Fisch officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery at Hawarden.

Mrs. McCown had been a clerk at Hotopp Jewelry store in Le Mars five years. She and worked as usual on Tuesday and when she did not come to work Wednesday her sister, Mrs. Leo Nuebel, was notified. She went to Mrs. McCown's home and found her. She had died in her sleep.

Frances Freking was born April 12, 1902, at Le Mars. She went to Le Mars from Hawarden, residing here when her husband was the proprietor of a hardware store.

Her marriage to Don McCown took place August 12, 1938 at Mitchell, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1950, who is also buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, and a brother, Henry.

She is survived by a son, Robert, of Iowa City; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Anderson of Chillicothe, Missouri; four grandchildren; two brothers, Al and Linus of Le Mars, and four sisters, Mrs. John Puetz, Mrs. Al Koopman, Miss Angeline Freking and Mrs. Leo Nuebel, all of Le Mars.

Parish rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and was attended by several from Hawarden.
