Hugh Wohlenberg, 58, owner of the Time Shop in Hawarden for 23 years died unexpectedly at his home late Thursday night after suffering a lung hemorrhage. Mr. Wohlenberg had spent the day at his jewelry store at work and died later that night while watching a television program.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Reverend C.E. Custer and Reverend B. Roy Brown of Omaha, former pastor here, officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Alcester.

Mr. Wohlenberg was born February 20, 1900 at Everly, Iowa, and settled in the Alcester vicinity as a boy. He graduated from high school there and attended a watch making school at St. Louis, Missouri. He married Ester Lind November 28, 1920, at Albany, Missouri.

He worked in jewelry stores in various places prior to setting up business in Hawarden where the office of Dr. B.G. Gerdes is now located. Years later he moved the Time Shop to its present location. The business is one of the older merchandising establishments on Hawarden’s main street.

Mr. Wohlenberg was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Dale Lodge AF and AM.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Barlow of Nespelem, Washington; two daughters, Linde, a student at Morningside College in Sioux City and Kristi, at home; a brother, J.D. Wohlenberg of Sioux Falls, and two sisters, Mrs. G.W. DeVault of Sioux City and Mrs. W.W. Moeller of Dickens, Iowa.

A large number of relatives and friends from out of town attended the funeral.
