Died: September 12, 1991 Rock Valley, Iowa

Rodney D. Ranschau, 49 of rural Rock Valley, died Thurs. Sept. 12, at the Rock Valley Hospital after a long illness.

Ranschau was born Feb. 14, 1942, near Rock Valley, the son of Henry J and Lena (Baatz) Ranschau. He served with the Army from 1964 to 1966 in the Dominican Republic conflict. He then farmed near Rock Valley. He was preceded in death by his mother on Dec. 26, 1972.

He was a member of the VFW of Rock Valley and a past board member of Farmer's Lumber Company in Rock Valley.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Janet Ranschau of Rock Valley; three brothers, Billie, Larry and Dale, all of rural Rock Valley; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Shirley) Moore of Rock Valley and Mrs. Orville (Carol) Rehder of rural Hawarden.

A memorial is being established at rural Peace Lutheran Church.

Rodney D. Ranschau, age 49, of rural Rock Valley, died Thursday, September 12, 1991, at the Rock Valley hospital after a long illness. Services were held Monday, September 16, at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Sioux Center, with the Rev. James Peterson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Ranschau was born February 14, 1942, near Rock Valley, the son of Henry J. and Lena (Baatz) Ranschau. He served with the Army from 1964 to 1966 in the Dominican Republic conflict. He then farmed near Rock Valley. He was preceded in death by his mother December 26, 1972. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Rock Valley and a past board member of Farmer's Lumber Company in Rock Valley.

Survivors include his father, and stepmother, Janet Ranschau of RockValley; three brothers, Billie, Larry and Dale, all of rural Rock Valley; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Shirley) Moore of Rock Valley and Mrs. Orville (Carol) Rehder of rural Hawarden.
