Mrs. E. J. Rhodes died at her home at Sloan, IA. Sunday afternoon Nov. 12, 1922 after an illness of more than a year, at the age of 63 years. A little more than a year ago the remains of her son, who died in France during the war were brought to Sloan for burial and it seems that the shock was too great and from that time has been failing in health. Last week she became considerable weaker and suffered a paralytic stroke. The last three days preceding her death she was unconscious. She is survived by her husband, three sons and one daughter.
R. I. Rhodes of this city was called to Sloan and was at his mother's bedside at the time of death but was unable to remain for her funeral because of the serious illness of his wife. Mrs. Rhodes had visited here at different times. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon and she was laid to rest beside her son.
