Lorenz Garn died Sunday in the insane hospital at Cherokee where he was taken several months ago, Deceased was born in Germany in 1838 and came to the United States at the age of sixteen. He settled first in Northern Michigan where he was engaged in the lumber business for many years.

In 1879 he came with his family to Sioux county and settled on a farm three miles southeast of Alton where they lived till 1903 when they moved to Alton. Deceased leaves a widow and one son--six children being dead. He owned land in Iowa and South Dakota and Kansas and leaves an estate worth over $100,000. Funeral services were conducted at the Alton Congregational church Thursday by Rev. Walcott of Sioux City and interment was made in the Nassau township cemetery

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Messrs Folger and Gibbs and Miss Gibbs and Mrs. Wolf.
