Citizens of Sioux County who know Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hoeven and they are many will grieve to lean that they lost their only child b death at their home in Sioux City Monday. Edward John Hoeven was an especially bright boy of five years and eight months and the pride of his parents .
For about two months he had suffered from a stomach ailment but his condition was not considered dangerous. He was taken with convulsions Thursday of last week one of them lasting for over three hours. All that medical skill could do was done but to no avail.
The body was sent to Sioux Center where the family formerly lived and funeral services were held from the First Reformed church there on Thursday. Services were held at the home at 1006 West third street in Sioux City by Rev. E. C. Walcott of Mayflower Congregational church and Rev. R. D. Echlik of the Presbyterian church. At Sioux Center Rev. James De Pree and B. De Jonge.
The attending physicians state that the case is the unusual one known as cerebral spatic-hempligs. The bereaved parents certainly have the heartfelt sympathy of all who know them. Mesdames John De Bruins and C. P. De Jong of Hospers are sisters of Jacob Hoeven and with their families attended the funeral
