Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Wendel, 37, who died early Sunday morning shortly after having been rushed to the Hawarden Hospital, were held at Trinity Lutheran Church Wednesday with Reverend O.F. Pittack conducting the service.

Mrs. Raymond Peters was at the organ and the church choir sang “God Works in a Mysterious Way” and “Draw Us to Thee.” Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery with the Barnard Funeral Home in charge.

Casket bearers were Walter and Elmer Holtkamp, William Elgersma, Bernard Wiksen, Leo Schiefen and Burdette Heiman.

Dorothy Christina, daughter of William F. Ludwig and Anna, nee Johannsen, was born on February 21, 1926, near Alcester and a month later became a member of Peace Lutheran Church through baptism administered by Reverend A.H. Nenne.

On January 14, 1955 she married Robert J. Wendel at the church, Reverend E.C. Beyer performing the ceremony. Since that time she lived on a farm in Union County, five miles southwest of Hawarden.

For almost a year she had been under the care of a physician.

Surviving besides the widower and parents are her sister, Ester Holtkamp, uncles and aunts, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
