Funeral services for Phillip Grant Evenson, 75, prominent Hudson retired farmer who died at his home unexpectedly Tuesday of last week, were held at 2 o'clock Friday at the rural Trinity Lutheran church west of Hudson, Rev. Arnold F. Imbroek officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Evanson was born September 21, 1888 at Hudson, a son of John & Kari (Brandon) Evanson. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran church where he was confirmed by Pastor E. O. Thornodsgaard on November 2, 1902. He spent his boyhood on a farm near Norway Center where he attended rural school.

On August 24, 1910 he married Maude Blumer of Beresford and they farmed on his parents' farm, later working the adjoining farm until moving into Hudson nine years ago.

Mr. Evanson was active in church and community affairs, serving as deacon of the Trinity congregation and member of the Brotherhood, was chairman of the East View school board for 31 years, took an active interest in politics, serving as Norway township democratic committeeman and as election judge, and was an early supporter of the REA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include the widow, Maude; a son Judson Evanson of Hudson; three daughters, Mrs. Trygve (Ardias) Eidsness of Alcester; Mrs. Floyd (Jean) Knight of Wilmar, MN; and Mrs. Odell (Marian) Hanson of Lincoln, NE; four sisters, Mrs. Oscar Sogn of Hudson; Mrs. George Hummel of Rosamond, CA; Mrs. Ben Steensland of Arlington, SD, and Mrs. Stanley Forrest of Long Beach, CA; two brothers, Clarence of Los Gatos, CA, and Dewey of Fresno, CA; 14 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
