Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Frances Bruce, 62, who died Friday at the Hawarden Community hospital following a lingering illness, were held at 2 o'clock Monday with the American Lutheran church holding services at the American Legion Hall, Rev. O. V. Everson officiating.

Interment was at Grace Hill cemetery under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Rex Truesdell, Melvin Loken, Hjalmer Ingebretson, Melvin Peterson, Andrew Harmelink and Irvin Schmidt.

Mrs. Bruce was born at Fairview, S.D., April 30, 1901, the youngest of seven children born to William & Laura Schoen.

She married Alfred Bruce of Fairview, September 1, 1927. He preceded her in death in July, 1962.

They operated the Northwestern Bell Telephone exchange at Fairview for 20 years before retiring to Hawarden in 1937.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Ida Thorpe of Hudson; Mrs. Nona Herigs of Memphis, Tenn.; and Mrs. Verna Helpenstine of Sioux Falls, and several nephews and nieces, including Don Schoen and Mrs. Marjorie Coleman of Hawarden.
