Hawarden Independent, March 14, 1963

Funeral services for Richard W. Siemers, 45, of Alcester, brother-in-law of Mrs. Leonard Buum and Mrs. Raymond Keiser of Hawarden, who died at the Hawarden hospital Monday from encephalitis, will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at Peace Lutheran churchi n Alcester. Rev. Ernest G. Lindner will officiate with burial there.

Mr. Siemers was hospitalized for three months at St. Vincent's hospital in Sioux City prior to which he had been hospitalized here. Still suffering from the incurable though not contagious type of sleeping sickness, he was returned home, later again entering the Hawarden hospital.

Born January 3, 1918 at Freda, N.D. he came to the Alcester area in 1934. He married Wilma Fickbohm on January 28, 1941, and farmed in the Alcester vicinity since that time.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Richard G. of St. Paul; a daughter, Miss Mary Ann of Seward, Neb.; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Wehrman; Mrs.Victoria Joeeks, and Mrs. Irene Metzger, all of Menominee Falls, Wis., and Mrs. Florence Fickbohm of Beresford, and two brothers, William of Harington, Neb. and Victor of Alcester.
