Pierce Jansma, age 65, of Maurice passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 30, upon arrival at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Pierce John Jansma was born Jan. 7, 1919, at Maurice, the son of Charles P. Jansma and Anna Schouten Jansma. In 1939 he began farming east of Maurice.

On Nov. 25, 1941, he married Arloa Cynthia Brink at Maurice. They continued to farm east of town, retiring to Maurice in November of 1981. Mr. Jansma was a member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice where he had served on the consistory as both elder an deacon and had also taught catechism and Sunday school classes.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Mrs. Duane (Sheryl) Laman of Artesia, Calif.; two sons, Kenneth of Sacramento, Calif., and Mark of Maurice; and five grandsons. Mr. Jansma was preceded in death by his sister, Arnetta Van Roekel, and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb.. 2, at the First Reformed Church of Maurice, with the Rev. Edward Fikse officiating. Interment followed at Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
