Ed Poel passed away Sunday afternoon after being ill for many months with cancer. Mr. Poel's sickness was diagnosed as cancer six months ago but he had been suffering from it some time previous to that. He was sixty-eight years old.

Funeral services will be held Thurs. at the home and at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. J. M. Dykstra will be in charge of the services.

Mr. Poel was born in the Netherlands. He immigrated to America in 1906, settling in Chicago. He lived there, having a truck farm until 1926, when he came to Sioux Center. Mr. Poel has had one of the finest gardens in Sioux Center ever since first coming here. In addition to this he was janitor in both the State and National banks for a total of about eight years. He was janitor of the National bank until last July when he resigned because of his poor health.
Mr. Poel's first wife died in 1911 in Chicago. He remarried in 1923.

Besides his wife Mr. Poel is survived by four children; William Poel of Downers Grove, Ill. Mrs Charles Dykstra of South Holland, Ill., Mrs. Abe Vander Schaaf of Burwin Ill. and Mrs. Ben Wanninga of Roseland, Ill. He also has one step-son, William Goemans, of Meade, NE and a brother and sister in the Netherlands.
