The home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Witt, five miles northwest of Hawarden, was saddened Wednesday morning by the accidental drowning of their two year old daughter, Metta, in the water tank. The little one had been absent from the house about ten minutes when her mother went out to look for her and was horrified to find her lifeless in the big tank used for watering the stock. There was only about a foot of water in the tank at the time. The child had evidently climbed over the side of the tank and fell in head foremost.

The blow is a sad one to the grief stricken parents and they have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.
