Rites Held For Dr. Steffen, 62
Funeral services for Dr. D. N. Steffen, 62, former Hawarden dentist who died after a lingering illness at Glendale, Calif., July 14, were held July 17 at Church of the Recessional at Glendale with burial at Forest Lawn cemetery there. Among those attending the services were his brothers-in-law, Forrest Schoeneman of Sioux City and C. Schoeneman of Hawarden. Dr. Steffen was born December 5, 1898, at Britt, Iowa. He attended high school at Mason City and graduated from the State University of Iowa, Iowa City.

He practiced dentistry at Pella, Iowa, and Chariton, Iowa, before coming to Hawarden in 1925. On June 28, 1927, he married Miss Flora Scboeneman of Hawarden. They moved to Glendale in 1941 and he practiced in Burbank, Calif. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Oakmont Country club and the Congregational church.

Survivors include the widow; three children, Margaret, Mrs. Neil Lake of Los Angeles, Susan at home and Dr. Frank H. Steffen of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Alex Steffen of Portland, Ore., and Dr. Ted Steffen of Hammond Ind., and three sisters, Cora of Memphis, Minnie of Sioux City and Martha of Glendale.
