Mrs. A. Doctor died last week Thursday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Vant Kerkhoff where she had been staying the p a s t few years. Deceased was eighty seven years of age and had been an invalid for years. She was married in the Netherlands to Albert Van Putten.

Four children were born to them, Mrs. D. Dykstra and G. W. Van Putten of Sioux Center and Mrs. George Oelrich a n d Mrs. Vant Kerkhoff of this place, Her husband died in 1870 and the following year she was united in marriage to A. Doctor. In 1883 they came to this place where they have since resided.

Mrs. Gerrigje Dokter passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. H. Vant Kerkhof at Orange City on Wednesday June fifteenth. She was born in Elburg Netherlands on September twenty-five 1822, She was married to Albert Van Putten of Elburg Netherlands and this union was blessed with four children—all living. In 1870 her husband died and the nest year she again married. Her second husband was A. Dokter, a widower with one child—Ben—who now resides in Oklahoma. In 1882 Mr. and Mrs. Dokter came to the United States and came directly to Orange City. For the last four or five years Mrs. Dokter had made her home with her daughter Mrs, H. Vant Kerkhof. The deceased is survived by four children— Mrs. Oelrich and Mrs. H. Vant Kerkhof of Orange City and Mrs. D. Dykstra and G. W. Van Putten of Sioux Center, The funeral services were held from the Reformed church at Orange City on Friday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. George Douwstra of Hospers.
