Alice Yates, 50, of Ireton died Saturday, October 17, in a Sioux City Hospital after a long illness.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 20, at Peace Lutheran Church of rural Sioux Center. The Reverend Ron Nelson officiated. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery.

Born April 8, 1937, in Hawarden, Alice Peterson married Stanley Yates June 1, 1958, in Hawarden. The couple farmed in the Ireton-Sioux Center area.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and ALCW. She sang in the church choir and served as a deaconess. She also was an officer of Compassionate Friend’s Support Group.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Teresa Vande Pol and Lisa Vanden Brink, both of Hawarden, and Cynthia Reid of Sioux Center; her father, Roland Peterson of Hawarden; three sisters, Mary Rehder of Hawarden, Barbara Reed of Watertown, Minnesota, and Janet Stewart of Nashville, Tennessee; a brother, John Peterson of Orchard, Nebraska; and six grandchildren.

Note: Her parents were Roland Peterson and Pearl Nelson Peterson.
