Minnie D. Witt was born on June 6, 1909, on a farm in Preston Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of William A. and Margaret (Johnson) Borchers. She attended rural Plymouth County schools.

She was united in marriage with Alfred “Bob” Witt on February 20, 1929, in Plymouth County. They farmed in the Hawarden area until their retirement in 1963 when they moved into Hawarden. Alfred died on January 25, 1973.

Minnie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her daughter, Marlene Buryanek; a daughter-in-law, Betty Witt; a grandson, Dennis Witt; her sister, Emma Eilts; and three brothers, Edward B. Borchers, Jack Borchers, and Herman Borchers.

Survivors include her son, Duane Witt, of Hawarden; a son-in-law, Frank Buryanek, of Hawarden; a sister, Marie Stephens, living in Le Mars; four grandsons, Mark Witt, Randy Witt, Bill Buryanek and Jason Witt, all of Hawarden; four granddaughters, Mrs. Lanny (Cindy) Pick, of Orange City, Nancy Buryanek, of New London, Connecticut, Mrs. Brian (Amy) Vander Aarde, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Jane Buryanek, of Hawarden; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
