DIES AT HAWARDEN HOSPITAL WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON--WAS 40 YEARS OF AGE AND A RESIDENT HERE ALL HER LIFE--LEAVES HUSBAND AND THREE DAUGHTERS

The community was greatly shocked when it was learned that Mrs. Henry Witt had passed away at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Hawarden Hospital from peritonitis. Mrs. Witt had been ailing for about four weeks but her condition was not regarded as serious until she was brought to the hospital Saturday when her condition became critical, death claiming her Wednesday afternoon.

Funeral services will be at the Lutheran Church in this city at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon with Reverend George Steinkamp officiating. Burial will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Louise Johnson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, southeast of Hawarden, was born June 10, 1893, in Grant township, Plymouth County, and passed away January 17, 1934, in Hawarden at the age of 40 years, 7 months and 7 days. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and later confirmed, being a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden. She came with her parents to Sioux County locating southeast of Hawarden, when about a year old and since then her home has been in this vicinity. She was united in marriage with Henry Witt February 6, 1916, and this union was blessed with three daughters. After her marriage she moved onto the Witt farm, 8 ˝ miles east of Hawarden and since then this has been her home.

Besides her sorrowing husband she leaves to mourn her untimely death three daughters, Florence, aged 17; Elma, aged 14 and Irene, aged 10. She is also survived by her parents and five sisters and brothers; Emil Johnson of Le Mars, and Mrs. Herman Holtkamp, Mrs. Odin Hansen and George and Emma Johnson of Hawarden. One brother, William Johnson preceded her in death April 28, 1931.

Mrs. Johnson was a quiet and unassuming woman who made friends of all with whom she came in contact. Her interest was centered around the home and in the welfare of her family. Her untimely death comes as a severe shock to her husband and three daughters, who will sorely miss the guidance and counsel of a loving mother and sincere sympathy is extended to them in their bereavement.
