At the home of his parents in this city, at about five o’clock Wednesday afternoon, young Frank West breathed his last in the presence of the sorrowing family.

Only a few short months ago Frank West was well and rugged, holding his own in the football team and giving splendid promise of a clean, vigorous young manhood. Early in the month of February he caught a severe cold which soon developed into quick consumption and his loving parents were forced to watch him fade away day by day knowing they were powerless to stay the hand of the destroyer.

The lad was born at Calliope, Iowa, May 9, 1884, and has passed his short life of eighteen years in this community. Besides his parents, sisters and brother and many other near relatives he leaves a host of young companions of his own age who will sincerely mourn the loss of a sympathetic school mate and splendid comrade.

The funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at three o’clock. Reverend Wallace spoke a few comforting words to the desolate relatives and friends, then the sad procession started for Grace Hill Cemetery where six of Frank’s boyish comrades lowered the flower strewn casket to its final resting place.
