Miss Lulu West, 88, daughter of one of the earliest pioneer settlers in Calliope, died in Los Angeles on August 28.

A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.B. West, Miss West was a resident here for many years at which time her father, a carpenter, acted as lay preacher in the Methodist Church.

For many years after she moved to California, Miss West taught in a Chinese Mission.

A brother, Guy West, of Los Angeles, survives.
