Richard M. Recker, 61 of rural Brunsville, died Sunday May 24, 2009 in his home following a courageous battle with cancer.

Richard Michael Recker was born July 1, 1947, at Orange City, one of seven children born to Edward T. and Gertrude (Hanson) Recker. He graduated from Floyd Valley High School. After his education, Richard served for a brief time in the United States Armed Forces.

On July 20, 1968 Richard and Jean Letsche were married in Remsen. The couple made their home in Marcus where Richard worked at Hoover's Repair. He later worked at Hesse Chevrolet and drove a truck for Moorman's.

Richard began his longtime career in trucking with Randal Transportation in Paullina. He then transferred to Schuster Trucking in Le Mars. He drove with Schuster's for 15 years. During that time Richard and his family moved to Le Mars. He then drove for Weinrich Trucking in Hinton.

Richard continued his career by purchasing his own truck and began driving for Cloverleaf Transportation. He was currently driving for Marx Transportation before his health forced him to stop trucking. Trucking with "Clifford", Richard's truck, was his greatest passion. He also enjoyed working on, and riding in, his 1979 Cadillac.

Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean of Brunsville; his children and their spouses Victoria and Don Haack of Le Mars, Michael and Deb Recker of Marengo, Theodore Recker of Le Mars, Matthew and Penny Recker of Le Mars; 10 grandchildren Amanda Recker, Bradley Recker, Alyssa Ort, Ashli Ort, Vanessa Recker, Troy Recker, Brenden Recker, Susie Haack, Adam Haack, Cody Angerman; his sisters and their husbands Mary Lou Bauler of Le Mars, Coland Recker of Sioux City; Elaine Harriman of Le Mars, Gayle and Chuck Schmitt of Round Lake, MN, Jeanette and George Curry of Tulsa, OK; his brother and his wife Ed and Renee Recker of Alton; and his mother-in-law Arlene Wolf of Remsen.
