Marvin Ranschau, 52, Alvord, died Monday in Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids, IA after a long illness.

Mr. Ranschau was born May 1, 1931, in Sioux County, IA. He was graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1959. On Dec 10, 1952, he married Clara Mae Van Beek in Rock Valley. They farmed in the Alvord area.

He served in the National Guard for 16 years, was a member of the Alvord Gun Club for 25 years and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Alvord.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael, Alvord; six daughters; Pamela, and Mrs. Dallas (Janice) Vanden Bos, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Marlyn (Clara) Van Hill and Mrs. Gary (Kathy) Van Hill, both of Alvord; Annette, Overland Park, KS; Patricia at home; two brothers; Carl, Doon, and Frank, Luverne MN; and six sisters; Ann Haas, Hawarden; Mrs. Jim (Elaine) Luce, Sioux Falls; Martha Baatz, Rock Valley; Mrs. Glen (Elsie) Thievoldt, Alvord; Mrs. John (Lillian) Rielly, Houston, TX; and Mrs. Rodney (Rose) Grossenburg, Winner, S.D. and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Christ Lutheran Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
