On Sunday June twelfth Mrs. Adam Haag died at her home near Hospers having reached the ripe age of 82 years. Mrs. Haag was born in Smeckenhausen, Province Beyeren Germany on July 4th 1828 and came to this country in 1853. That same years she was married in New York. In 1872 she came to Sioux County and lived in this county until she died.

Mrs. Haag was the mother of eleven children nine of whom survive her. They are Jake, Frank, Mrs. George Selig, Anthony and Emma of Hospers, Mrs. John Hain and Adam of Sheldon, Mrs. D. Stevens of St. Paul and Alphonso of York Nebraska. The funeral services were held on Wednesday forenoon form the Catholic church, Rev. Father Geling of Hospers conduction the services. Interment was made in St. Anthony’s cemetery.
Mrs. Haag was one of the pioneer settlers of this county. A large number of friends from different parts of the county attended the funeral. Among those attending from a distance were Mrs. D. Stevens of St. Paul. Alphonso Haag from York NE, Adam Haag of Sheldon and Mrs. Oldenburg from Colridge NE.
