DEATH CLAIMS HUDSON WOMAN
Mrs. Nettie Bennett, a resident of Hudson for more than 30 years, died at her home Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 9, following a long illness. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon with Rev. Richard Larson of the Hudson Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery in Hawarden.

Nettie Mc Laine was born at Gallipolis, Ohio, March 7, 1857, and died on Dec. 29, 1942, attained the age of 85 years, 9 months and 22 days. She was united in marriage with Hiram Bennett at Gallipolis Nov. 24, 1876. After her marriage she lived in Ohio and then went to Kansas. T hey came to Hudson 30 years ago from Halls Summit, Kans. Her husband passed away eight years ago. Four children, two sons and two daughters survive her. The children are Mrs. John Krusen of Hawarden, Frank Bennett of Akron, Mrs. May Waterbury of the Black Hills and Oral Bennett, who is in the army, stationed at Camp Polk, La. Orval had hoped to be able to come home for the funeral but at the last minute was not
granted a furlough.

Mrs. Bennett had been ill for a year or more and grew gradually weaker until death claimed her last Tuesday. Her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Waterbury, had been with her and looked after her comfort. She was a Christian woman and made friends of those with whom she came in contact. For years her husband was janitor of the public schools in Hudson. Both Mr. and Mrs. Waterbury were ill at the time of Mrs. Bennett's death and were unable to attend the funeral. Mrs. Waterbury was suffering from asthma and Mr. Waterbury from pneumonia.
