Mrs. John Von Hagel, mother of Mrs. John Wilken of Chatsworth, passed away at her home in Le Mars Saturday. Mrs. Von Hagel had been an invalid for many years.

Helena Ludwigs Von Hagel and her husband, John were pioneer residents of Plymouth County and her husband passed away a year ago. She was born in Germany March 23, 1860, where she grew to young womanhood. She came to America in 1881 when Mr. Von Hagel returned to Germany for her after having lived here for six years. They farmed in Plymouth County for many years but in 1909 they retired and moved to Le Mars because of her poor health. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars.

She is survived by four children, Mrs. John Wilken of Chadsworth; Gerd Von Hagel, who resides on the old home farm; Mrs. John Lammers of Madelia, Minnesota; and Mrs. Herman Heeren of Le Mars.
