Jim Potter formerly of this locality (Hospers) but for the last few years living at Sheldon died at his home on Monday May thirtieth 1910. He was taken sick with pneumonia about ten days ago and had been sick but a few days when he passed away. Mr. Potter was born in England in 1854 and came to this country when a young man and engaged in farming.

He was a prominent lodge man being a member of the Masonic, Woodman and Odd Fellow lodges. Rev. F. S. Jory of the Methodist church conducted the services under the auspices of the Odd Fellows lodge.

Interment was made at Sheldon Wednesday. The deceased is survived by his wife and four children. Mr. and Mrs. Eason attended the funeral from Alton. Mr. Potter and Mr. Eason came from the same place in England and had been intimate friends for a great number of years.

(James Potter born 21 Jan 1854 St. Healens England, died 30 May 1910 Sheldon IA, son of Robert Potter and Sarah Daw. He married Lucy Lucas Hanies 186-1933. They had four children Noma 1890, Thomas 1893, Mern 1896, and Marvel 1899.)
