Helena J. Keizer, 78, of Sioux Center died at her home in Sioux Center on Monday, October 16. Services were at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center on Saturday, October 21, with the Reverend John Witvliet officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Keizer was born on April 8, 1917, in Hull, the daughter of John and Hilligje (Damming) Haveman. She was married on January 2, 1945, in Middleburg to Gilbert G. Keizer who preceded her in death on January 5, 1988. They farmed near Middleburg until 1955 when they moved to Hawarden where Gilbert operated an appliance and TV repair business. In 1960, they moved to Sioux Falls, where they retired in 1980, after which they enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. She was a teacher for 30 years, most of that time in the Sioux Falls school system. After her husband's death, she was active in church and school activities.

Survivors include two sons, the Reverend John and his wife, Delores, of Sussex, New Jersey, and Robert and his wife, Carol, of Arnolds Park; a daughter, Anna Joyce and her husband, Richard Nelson, of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, John Haveman of Hull and Jake Haveman of Marion.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dena Hospers, Alice Haveman and Johanna Klay.
