Death: July 28, 1991Mrs. Lena Keunen, age 86, of Orange City, died Sunday, July 28,1991 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Lena was born April 17, 1905 at Goudswaard, The Netherlands, the daughter of Cornelius C. and Neeltje (Van Bochove) De Vos. She came to the United States in 1927, settling at Sioux Center. She married Henry J. Keunen on December 20, 1928 at Maurice. They farmed at Ireton, Orange City and Alton. In 1955 they retired into Orange City. He died October 3,1959 at Orange City. Mrs. Keunen was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and the Lydia Circle of the church.
Survivors include her two sons, Willard and his wife Jo of Alton, and The Reverend Cornie and his wife Alvina of Wendell, Idaho; a daughter, Nelva Van Zyl of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Comie De Vos of Sioux Center and Tunis De Vos of Hudsonville, Michigan; and a sister, Mrs. Louis (Anna) Wynia of Rock Rapids.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lena, in infancy; three brothers, William, Clarence and Joe De Vos; and son-in-law, George Van Zyl.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 31,1991 at ihe First Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
